For our final week of BREATHE Prayer Event, instead of our Sunday prayer time, we will be holding a church-wide
Seder meal to celebrate the Easter season.
WHAT IS A SEDER MEAL?
Passover is one of the seven feasts of Judaism commanded in the Old Testament. Indeed, it was the first one commanded. It goes back to the time of the Exodus, when God struck down the firstborn of the Egyptians. God commanded that Passover be observed from that time forward, so that the people of Israel would remember what the LORD had done for them. The Passover celebration is known as the seder, which means “set order”.
CHRIST AND PASSOVER |
Passover is more than a Jewish feast, however. It is a picture of the redeeming work of Christ. The Apostle
Paul refers to Christ as “our Passover” in 1 Corinthians, chapter 5. There is the obvious picture of Christ in the Passover lamb. As this lamb was sacrificed to deliver the people from Egypt, so Christ was sacrificed to deliver us from the bondage of sin. But the picture of Christ in the Passover seder goes beyond the symbolism of the lamb. As the seder developed in Judaism, many of the elements contained pictures of Jesus.
At this time we are looking for host homes to run the meals from.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN HOSTING?
• To host a Seder meal would involve having a group come to your home and sit down for a meal. We are looking at running the event from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 17th, but the timing can be flexible. You can either host your small group or allow it to be a selected group from those who sign up.
• It is a potluck style meal so you won’t be responsible for the entire meal. Each host home will be responsible for cooking the lamb. We will be providing a handout with all the information on how to run the event and the foods needed (with recipes).
• There will also be a training session provided for all the of hosts mid-March at Bethel to attend.
ARE YOU INTERESTED?
If you are interested in hosting a Seder Meal in your home, please email Jamie Stinson at email@example.com. We will need to know by March 30th if you are interested
