Cancelled Due To Weather

We've been watching the weather for the past week, praying that it would improve for Saturday. But unfortunately we have to cancel tomorrow's stroll along Songbird Lane due to crazy rain & wind that is expected. We hope to rebook in the new year!

DETAILS & FAQS

How do I register?
Registration is not required, but we will keep attendance as people arrive.

What is the address & directions?
Click this link to view, download, or print directions.

When should I arrive & how long can I stay?
You can arrive any time between 11am – 3pm on Saturday, December 11. You can explore as long as you’d like while there is daylight. All guests must depart by 4pm, before sunset.

What should I wear?
Dress for the weather and wear appropriate walking/hiking shoes or snow boots.

What are the conditions of the walking trails?
See the above video for a preview of the property & trails.
Songbird Lane and the Cataraqui Trail are hard-packed gravel paths. They are flat, with one hill near the parking area. Be aware of snow or ice on the paths, depending on the weather. Songbird Lane is sanded & snowplowed, but the Cataraqui Trail is not.
The forest trails are lightly maintained by the local community. There may be branches and other natural debris on the paths, so use caution and watch your step as you would through any unfamiliar land. Trails are marked with occasional signs, and you are also allowed to wander off the path at your own risk.
The beach front area is hilly and the ground is covered in natural debris from the trees. There are also rocks and roots to watch out for.

(Bethel Church, Kingston and the community members of Songbird Lane are not responsible for any injuries that may arise in the use of the trails & property surrounding Songbird Lane.)

Are the trails stroller friendly?
If there is no snow, Songbird Lane & the Cataraqui Trail are stroller friendly. The trails through the forest are not stroller friendly as the ground is covered in soft leaves and debris. The beach area is hilly and bumpy and covered in debris, so it’s not ideal for a stroller unless it can be lifted or carried in some areas.

Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Please keep your dog on a leash at all times, don’t forget to poop & scoop, and be aware when approaching others that they might not love your dog as much as you do.

What kind of activities will there be?
We are planning several campfires, a scavenger hunt, and a Christmas photo booth. All the activities are optional.

Will there be food or drinks available?
No, but feel free to bring your own snacks or hot beverages in a travel mug!

Will there be a washroom available?
A porta-potty stocked with toilet paper and sanitizer will be available near the parking area.

I don’t have a vehicle. How can I get ride?
We encourage you to reach out to your Bethel friends! We have found in the past that most people are able to make their own arrangements for a ride. But, if you do need help finding a ride, please contact keri@bethelkingston.com and we will do our best to help.

What if the weather is bad?
If a lot of snow, rain, or ice is forecasted, Bethel staff will make a decision by noon on Fri, Dec 10 and will post the decision at http://bethellkingston.com/events and on our social media. If we have to cancel, we hope to reschedule for the new year.
