Who We Are

Mark Kotchapaw

Senior Pastor | mark@bethelkingston.com
Mark is the Senior Pastor at Bethel Church and has been leading in that role since 2008. Mark and his wife Rhonda came from Jakarta, Indonesia where Mark was the Senior Pastor of Jakarta International Christian Fellowship. His wife Rhonda worked in the area of education. Mark and Rhonda met at Canadian Bible College (sometimes referred to as Canadian Bridal College lol!). Mark later earned his MTS (Masters In Theological Studies) from Bakke Graduate University. Mark and Rhonda have three grown children. Mark loves to lead, teach, build teams, and connect with people, but outside of the role of pastor he can be found cutting down trees, doing tons of yard work, being active in the gym, or just reading.

Amanda Van Halteren

Associate Pastor | amanda.bethelchurch@gmail.com
Amanda serves at the Associate Pastor at Bethel and oversees Worship & Discipleship (which is kinda everything!). She was raised in the GTA and grew up as part of a large family. After completing a degree in History & Religion & Theology, she moved to Honduras, Central America for two years to teach high school Physical Education. It was there she discovered her love of go-with-the-flow travelling and fine-tuned her coffee palate. She returned to Canada and attended Tyndale Seminary where she graduated with a Masters of Divinity with a focus in counseling. It was through seminary she discovered her love of preaching and the passion for people to become all they are created to be in Christ Jesus. She moved to Kingston in 2014 to work at Bethel and when not at work, she can be found playing soccer or volleyball, cycling or exploring the outdoors - with coffee in hand of course!

Jamie Stinson

Family Ministries Pastor | jamiestinson@me.com
Jamie joined the Bethel team as the Family Ministries Pastor in 2009. She is passionate about using her creativity to help kids and their families grow closer to Jesus and closer to each other. She loves to have fun, and her husband Rob always keeps her laughing. Together they have 2 beautiful daughters and she is known to flash pictures of her adorable grandson if you sound even remotely interested. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, reading and beating Rob at Scrabble!

Curtis Dyck

Youth Pastor | curtis@bethelkingston.com
Curtis has been the Youth Pastor at Bethel since Summer 2017. Curtis grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan, but quickly realized after high school God was calling him elsewhere. He went to Calgary where he finished his youth ministry degree at Ambrose University, and then he did an internship in Newmarket, ON before coming to Kingston. Curtis is very passionate about a few things, two of them being youth (ministering to youth) and travelling. When he’s not working with the youth in or around Kingston, he tries to explore the area. He currently plans to visit a new country every year, with Iceland, Italy, and Belize being some of the notables he already visited. Every time he travels, God finds a way for Curtis to share His word to people around the world. Curtis is also writing a novel in his spare time and often explores the city to find out the where the best coffee can be found. Curtis is by far the most youthful and most humorous person on staff.

Ruth Gaucher

Youth and Family Ministries Coordinator | ruth@bethelkingston.com
Ruth joined Bethel in fall of 2017 as the Family Ministries Coordinator working alongside the Family Ministries Pastor, Jamie Stinson. In the summer of 2018, she took on the role of Youth Coordinator to assist the Youth Pastor, Curtis Dyck. Ruth is originally from Sherbrooke, Quebec, grew up in Northern Ontario, and moved to several countries and cities before landing in Kingston. Upon completing high school, she spent a year in Costa Rica at Carpenwray Bible School and has since been working on a Bachelor of Arts through Athabasca. She aspires to be a translator or a coffee connoisseur. In her spare time, Ruth enjoys drinking coffee, rollerblading, playing baseball, refinishing furniture, consuming coffee, teasing her roommate, going on spontaneous adventures, and savouring coffee. You can find Ruth in Coffee & Conversations on Sunday mornings or various coffee shops during the week.

Keri Oosterhof

Office Assistant | keri@bethelkingston.com
Keri started at Bethel in September 2017, but has been worshipping and serving here since 2007. Before Keri joined the Bethel staff she worked for over 10 years at a local hotel & conference centre, so she brings a lot of hospitality and organizational experience to the table! If you call the church, you’ll be greeted by Keri’s friendly voice (…but maybe wait until after her first cup of coffee). Or if you stop by for a visit, you’ll generally find her upstairs in church office Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, and she can also be seen running around behind the scenes on Sunday mornings. Keri loves cooking, reading recipes and just generally talking about food, and it is a known fact that she has the best (and healthiest) lunches of everyone on staff!

Carmen Gauven-O'Donnell

Church Administrator | carmen@bethelkingston.com
Carmen is a French Canadian by birth, from the Ottawa area, and moved to Kingston in 1996 when her soldier-husband Mike was posted here. They have been here ever since, and hope to retire in Kingston as well. Carmen’s background is Law (although she graduated waaaaaay back in 1993, and never practiced, in case you’re tempted to ask her for free legal advice – you’ll get what you pay for!). Carmen has been working for the church since 2006, first as the church’s Secretary, and now as the Administrator. Her job is to make sure Bethel's administrative framework runs smoothly so that our pastoral colleagues are free to minister. In her spare time, Carmen loves being active (soccer is a particular sports obsession, although she does love sports in general), and she's also an avid postage stamp collector (GIVE HER YOUR OLD STAMPS! 🙂 and cross-stitcher (a.k.a “how-to-keep-your-hands-busy-so-you-don’t-eat-in-front-of-the-tv” 🙂 Mike and Carmen don’t have children, but their house is nonetheless maintained for the total comfort and convenience of their three (male) cats: Timmy, Pinball and Isosceles.

Steve Cousineau

Building Superintendent | steve.w.cousineau@gmail.com

He came aboard as Bethel’s Building Superintendent in 2010 after graduating from our Bethel House program, where he also now volunteers as the Bethel House Manager. Steve has four grown children and 7 grandchildren ranging in age from newborn to 15 years of age. In his spare time, he loves to do service work and play with his grandkids.
